NCLEX › NotebookLM for nursing students
NotebookLM for nursing students: when to use it, and when to use NurseLingo
Short answer: NotebookLM (now called Gemini Notebook) is best when you want study tools made from your own class materials. NurseLingo is for when you want the nursing and NCLEX material already made: 4,000+ NCLEX-style questions with rationales, 380+ study podcasts and 4,300+ flashcards, reviewed by RNs, with nothing to upload or prompt. Plenty of students will want both.
NotebookLM is now Gemini Notebook
Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook on July 16, 2026. It is the same product, and existing notebooks and shared links still work. We use both names here because most students still search for NotebookLM.
How each one works
Gemini Notebook: you add sources (PDFs, Google Docs and Slides, Word files, web pages, public YouTube videos, audio files or pasted notes), then it makes audio overviews (podcast-style conversations), video overviews, flashcards, quizzes, study guides and reports from them. Google says its flashcards and quizzes are grounded in your sources, so what you get is only as complete as what you upload.
NurseLingo: nothing to upload. Every topic is already built: 4,000+ practice questions, 1,500+ Next Gen items, 277 conditions from A to Z, 380+ podcasts, 4,300+ flashcards, 63 3D lessons and 41 illustrated guides. Open a topic and start studying.

Frequently asked questions
Is NotebookLM good for nursing school?
Yes, for turning your own class materials into study tools: upload lecture slides, notes or readings and it can make flashcards, quizzes, study guides and audio overviews from them. It works from what you add, so it does not come with a built-in NCLEX question bank.
Can NotebookLM make NCLEX questions?
It can make quizzes from the sources you add. Google's help pages we checked do not list Next Generation NCLEX formats such as bowtie, matrix or case studies, and quality depends on your sources. For NCLEX-style practice with rationales, use a question bank built for the exam.
Is NotebookLM free?
Yes. Gemini Notebook has a free Standard plan with a Google account (up to 100 notebooks and 50 sources per notebook, per Google's plans page, checked 2026-10-31). Higher limits come with Google AI Plus, Pro or Ultra plans. Google says limits are subject to change.
What happened to NotebookLM?
Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook on July 16, 2026. It is the same product, and existing notebooks and shared links still work.
Is NurseLingo like NotebookLM?
It makes the same kinds of things (podcasts, flashcards, quizzes, study guides), but they are already made for every nursing topic and reviewed by RNs, so there is nothing to upload or prompt. NurseLingo does not read your own class files; use Gemini Notebook for that.
